Our Story

Founded by Love

Tri City Kitty Rescue was founded on a simple but powerful belief: every kitten deserves a chance to survive and thrive.

Tri City Kitty Rescue is built on the dedication of volunteers, foster families, and board members who give their time, energy, and hearts to this mission. Each person brings unique skills and life experiences, but all share one thing in common: a deep love for animals.

Together, our team provides hands-on care, medical support, and community outreach to help vulnerable kittens get the care they need. This work often happens behind the scenes, from late-night bottle feedings to advocating for better practices within our community. It is not always easy, but it is always driven by compassion.

Tri City Kitty Rescue exists because of a shared commitment to showing up for kittens who cannot help themselves. Our foundation is rooted in teamwork, care, and the belief that with the right support, every kitten can have a future.

Meet the Hearts Behind Tri City Kitty Rescue

Nina.jpg

Nina Smith

President

After developing long COVID, registered nurse Nina experienced a dramatic shift in her life. Seeking purpose and healing, she began fostering kittens—a small act that brought unexpected joy and clarity. As her involvement grew, so did her awareness of serious gaps in care and oversight. Driven by compassion and a strong sense of responsibility, Nina transformed a rescue organization, renewing its focus on integrity, support, and the well-being of both animals and the people who care for them.

As our Board Vice President, she plays a key role in guiding our mission and supporting both our foster network and public outreach efforts. Patti thrives in hands-on work with kittens and excels at connecting with the community at events. Her dedication and experience make her an invaluable part of the team.

Dan Smith

Board Treasurer

Dan has spent the last 20 years working in the nonprofit world, holding both paid and volunteer roles, including several board positions. His passion has always been rooted in helping others, especially animals. Recognizing that they don’t have a voice, Dan has made it his life’s work to speak up for them—to advocate, protect, and ensure they are treated with the kindness and respect they deserve. Whether working behind the scenes or out in the field, Dan leads with empathy, dedication, and a deep belief that even small actions can make a big difference.
